Great product photography is the number one seller of your work online. When people can’t touch and feel your work they need to be able to experience that through your photography. Planning your shoot!
A well planned shoot can make a huge difference to how your photographs turn out. Before you arrive think about the below and start a list so you are organized and don’t miss anything.
- What products do you want to photograph
- What will the photos be used for
- Do you need to consider the layout proportions for different online applications
- Do you need multiple angles of each product
- Do you want to use props, what props will compliment your product
- Do you require a model to wear your product
- What type of image do you want to achieve (See below for more information on types)
Types of Images
- Stacklay: A stack of similar products that have a slight variation, with the top product is the focal point (example: material design, different colors)
- Flatlay: A product is laid flat and photographed from above with additional styling elements added to the image.
- Isolated: The product is isolated without any additional styling props or embellishments.
- Modeled: The product is worn on a model.
- Macro/close up: Details to show textures etc. (Please note we do not have a macro lens at this time that would be required to capture close up detail on small products such as jewelry. If this is something you would be interested in please let us know!)
