I grew up in a large family in rural Quebec. There was a very large weeping willow tree nearby in and under which we spent long hours playing. It was a private place and a world of imagination and escape. Making art has also given me that sense of being transported to another world. I drew and painted from an early age, I learned to sew as a teenager and did woodworking as a young adult. I only ever wanted to be an artist and have explored various media including printmaking, oil painting and sculpture. Felt from wool is one of the oldest known textiles but I only discovered it about 6 years ago, since then feltmaking has taken over my art practice. It seems to encompass all of the things that resonate with who I’ve been since childhood. I really enjoy it’s tactile and textural quality as well as its seemingly limitless possibilities.
